Abstract
This study was intended to present through empirical analysis the effect of factors in the social relationship of injured workers on the return to work. This study reviewed the prior studies and social capital theory, and defined four factors, such as personal and psychological, organizational, institutional and social relationship, which affect the return to work, and set up a model. In this study, 1,500 injured workers were confirmed in the Worker's Compensation Insurance Panel Survey conducted for five years. In addition, the survival analysis of the Cox proportional hazards model was implemented. The main results are as follows. The subjective health condition and self-worth of the personal and psychological factors were shown to influence the return to work of injured workers. Among the organizational factors, daily workers, the period of work, and the size of workplace were shown to influence the return to work of injured workers. Also, among the institutional factors, the industrial insurance benefits and the period of medical care were shown to influence the return to work of injured workers. In particular, all variables of the social relationship factors were significant. In other words, the existence of other people's help in daily life, the satisfaction of human relationship, the willingness to use community support connected services, and the satisfaction of workplace support were shown to influence the return to work of injured workers. In this study, the social relationship factors were derived based on social capital theory. It may also be meaningful in that it has been suggested that these factors could serve as major variables that affect the return to work after industrial accident.
