Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate how teachers‘ gender influenced students’ perceptions in physical education classes, based on the differences of variables among groups. According to teachers'gender and students' gender, the differences of exercise interest, class effort, and teacher feedback in PE classes were compared. Also, interaction effect between teachers' gender and students' gender were analyzed. 442 middle school students completed questionnaires to assess exercise interest and effort in PE classes and perception of teacher feedback survey. Results of MANOVA indicated that students in female teacher classes were more interested, did more effort in class, and received more feedback related to performance and positive feedback than students in male teacher classes. According to students' gender, male students were more interested and did more effort in class than female students. Based on interaction effect, female students in female teacher PE classes had higher scores in all variables than students in male teacher PE classes.
