지역에 대한 애착이 주민 행복에 미치는 영향: 서울시 사례를 중심으로

초록

본 연구는 지역주민의 지역에 대한 장소 애착이 행복에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 실증 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 본 연구에서는 행복을 사회과학적 측면에서 개인과 사회의 상호 작용으로 사회통합을 통해 창출되는 가치로 이해하였다. 기존 행정학 연구에서 많이 다루지 않았던 심리적 요인 특히 지역주민의 장소 애착으로서 고향인식수준과 출신지역의 거주 여부 및 상호작용효과를 통해 실증적으로 분석하여 행복의 영향요인을 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 본 연구는 2007년부터 2014년까지 8년간의 서울서베이(Seoul Survey) 도시정책지표조사 자료를 이용하여 패널회귀분석(Panel analysis)의 고정효과모형을 통한 시계열 분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과, 지역에 대한 장소 애착은 양(+)의 방향으로 행복을 높이는 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 지역출신과 무관하게 장소에 대한 애착은 행복지수를 높이는 것을 알 수 있으나, 출신지역의 거주 여부가 행복을 높이는 것은 아니며 출신지역에 거주하더라도 지역에 대한 장소 애착을 형성한 경우 행복한 것을 알 수 있다. 이러한 결과는 지역에 대한 장소애착이라는 설명변수가 가지는 이론적･정책적 함의가 매우 높다는 것을 의미한다. 결론적으로 지역주민의 행복에 대한 영향요인을 분석하는 것은 궁극적으로 지방정부가 제공하는 공공서비스 및 정부의 질적 역량 강화를 위한 방안 모색에 적합한 의사결정의 기초자료를 제공할 수 있다는 점에서 본 연구가 지닌 함의가 있다.

Abstract

This study attempts to empirically investigate how local residents’ sense of stability can affect their happiness. In the study, happiness is defined as a value which can appear through the interactions between individuals and the society. Paying attention to a psychological factor, especially the local residents’ place attachment, the research suggests what government should do to make its residents happier. Panel analysis(fixed effect) based on Seoul survey data, collected from 2007 to 2014, was used for the analysis. Result of the analysis shows, place attachment factors based on the sense of stability, economic factor, infra structure, green space and environmental factors have statistically significant impact. Interesting finding of the research is that, individuals who perceive Seoul as their hometown tended to feel higher level of happiness, no matter where they are actually from. The finding indicates that local residents’ place attachment can have a significant implication to public administration. The study can help local governments provide higher quality of public service by giving useful information about the factors which can increase the local residents’ happiness.
