본 논문에서는 이공계 대학생들을 위한 대화와 협상 과목의 가능성을 모색한다. 다만 이 작업의 범위를 이공계 학생들을 위한 대화와 협상교육의 필요성과 방향으로 한정한다. 왜냐하면 대화와 협상이라는 분야 자체가 사고와 표현 교육 전체에서도 초기 단계에 불과한 실정에서 구체적 내용을 제시하기란 무리이기 때문이다. 이를 위해 2절, ‘글쓰기 편향의 의사소통 교육’에서는 이공계 학생들을 위한 의사소통 교육이 아직도 글쓰기 위주에서 벗어나지 못하고 있음을 구체적인 자료들을 가지고 보이고 이는 우리나라 사고와 표현 교육이 가지는 글쓰기 위주의 편향성과 맥을 같이 한다는 점을 밝힌다. 3절, ‘체화되지 않은 과학기술인들을 위한 의사소통교육’에서는 전공과목과 연계되지 않고 전공으로 체화되지 않은 의사소통교육의 현실을 짚어보고 이런 현상이 사고와 표현 교육 전반의 문제와 연결되어 있다는 점을 보인다. 4절, ‘과학기술인들의 의사소통 교육에 있어 말하기 교육의 중요성’에서는 공학인을 위한 의사소통능력에 있어 글쓰기뿐 아니라 말하기 능력의 중요성을 인식하고 있음을 전문가들의 글을 통해 보인다. 5절, ‘이공계 학생들을 위한 대화와 협상의 필요성과 방향’에서는 이공계 학생들에게 대화와 협상 과목이 왜 필요하고 그 방향은 어떠해야 하는지에 대해 논자의 입장을 밝힌다.
Abstract
I investigate the possibility of communication and negotiation courses for natural science and engineering students in this article. I limit this study to the necessity and orientation of the courses. It is because it is almost impossible to suggest details of communication and negotiation courses on the early stage of thinking and expression education in general in Korea. For this, in chapter two, I show that communication education for natural science and engineering students is mainly focused on writing courses and that this could be understood in the same context with the writing bias of thinking and expression education in Korea. In chapter three, I diagnose the Korean reality of communication education which has not connected with major courses and I show that this is related to the problems in thinking and expression education in general. In chapter four, I show that expertises in this field recognize the importance of speaking education as well as that of writing education. In chapter five, I explain the reason why communication and negotiation courses for natural science and engineering students important are and I show its proper orientation.
