국립순천대학교 <독서와 표현> 영역운영 현황 및 수강생 설문 조사를 통한 성과 분석

Abstract

<Reading and Expression> is one of key areas of newly-established general education curriculum in Sunchon National University for the 2015 academic year. This area is designated to improve self-initiated basic learning ability by providing students with the courses, which are confused with critical thinking movement and communication education. The detailed courses of this area are <Reading and Thinking>, <Reading and Speaking>, <Reading and Writing>, which are new trial of Sunchon National University in order to strengthen students’ right of choice with respect to the general education that have had restrictions by a compulsory general education area of departments, and to recover system of general education curriculum. However, many problems as well as trials and errors are expected related to the operation of <Reading and Expression> area and its detailed courses. So, in the first semester of 2015 academic year, we perform technical analysis, factor analysis, regression analysis on <Reading and Expression> in the students' point of view through a survey (a total of 401 people) for students who enroll in the courses of this area. Based on the results of this analysis, we conclude that in order to successfully operate this area, we should try to sustain excellent instructors, plan course design for solving problems of technical analysis, develop proprietary textbooks and materials of Sunchon National University. Eventually, through this paper, we hope to contribute to the successful operation of <Reading and Expression> area, and 2014/15 general education reorganization of Sunchon National University.
