본고는 대학생 독자들이 도서를 선정할 때 고려하는 기준을 전공별, 학년별, 성별로 구분하여 깊이 있게 분석하였다. 분석 결과를 바탕으로 한 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대학생 독자들은 도서를 선정할 때 여러 기준들 중에서 내용에 대한 흥미나 다른 사람들의 추천 여부를 가장 우선적으로 고려하였고 도서에 대해 이미 알고 있는 지식의 여부는 가장 마지막으로 고려하였다. 둘째, 전공이나 학년, 성별에 따라 도서를 선정하는 기준이 조금씩 차이를 보이는 지점이 있었으며 이는 대학생 독자들의 독서 특성을 고려한 맞춤형 독서 교육 방안이 필요함을 시사한다. 셋째, 현재 대학생 독자들은 디지털 미디어와 독서 활동을 융합하는 양상을 보이고 있다. 따라서 디지털 미디어 환경을 고려한 도서 선정 기준을 새롭게 마련해야 한다. 넷째, 대학교 시기에도 도서 선정 능력을 함양할 수있는 교육이 필요하며 이는 독서 활동을 지속하고 평생 독자로 성장하는 토대가 될 것이다.
Abstract
This study analyzed university students’ book selection criteria based on major, year in school, and gender. As result, first, students prioritized ‘high-interest’ but gave the least weight to ‘knowledge prior to book’. Second, variations across major, year in school, and gender suggest the necessity of customized reading education strategies. Third, the convergence of digital media and reading activities necessitates establishing new book selection criteria that actively reflect this digital media environment. Finally, cultivating students’ book selection competency through university education is crucial for fostering continuous reading and lifelong readership.
