서양 동화의 流入과 1920년대 한국 동화의 成立

Abstract

This paper has for its object that we look into a whole developmental process of Korean literary fairy tales in the 1920's, which had been flourishingly published since the foundation of journal, Eoriny, by Jeong-whan Pang. Jeong-whan Pang contributed a great deal to a modern literature for children. But we must not overlook the contribution of Nam-sun Choi who had lead the modern literature for children through the publication of children's magazines such as Pulgun Cheogori, Aidulboy and Saebyul. Before the accomplishment of fairy tales by the writers such as Jeong-whan Pang, Hae-song Ma and Han-seung Ko, there were many translations for Aesop's Fables and Kinder-und Hausmrchen. Among them, Aesop's Fables were the most popular western fairy tales by 1921 after many stories of them had been introduced to Sinjeongsimsang- sohak, a textbook of elementary school of education, in 1896. Soon after, The Kinder-und Hausmrchen followed the fame of Aesop's Fables, and 16 pieces of Grimm fairy tales were also presented to Dongmyeong published by Nam-sun Choi. Furthermore, along with the introduction of western fairy tales, Korean literary Fairy Tales, which is gathered by the public collection to the book, Gaebyuk, at 1923, greatly influenced on drawing a public interest and next active creation of Korean literary fairy tales.
