Abstract

This thesis intends to examine the aspects of women writer's pro-Japanese discourse, and it's inner logic in their texts. Specially, this thesis takes notice of the texts of Choi Jeong Hee and Mo Yoon Suk, and the broadcasting novel of Chang Duk Jo, who are often called by the literary field and journalism in 1930's. In ‘the inner logic of pro-Japanese and the re-definition of femininity', the pro-Japanese dissertations of Mo Yoon Suk, Choi Jeong Hee show the way of proving female's existence under the general mobilization system. These writers don't consider the female's various attributes, and they attempt to unify the femininity with the motherhood or to erase the femininity. In ‘pro-Japanese novel of Choi Jeong Hee and Chang Duk Jo', Choi Jeong Hee's pro-Japanese novel excludes New Woman and includes the women who bring up the child and follow imperial Japan's line. And Chang Duk Jo's broadcasting novel demonstrates the women's role like ‘the Mother of Military Nation' based on the individual's every day life. In conclusion, these writers' novels re-define the established woman's role and femininity coinciding with imperial Japan's war basis. So their pro-Japanese novels' inner logic are unitary as compared with male writer's pro-Japanese novels. The women writers' pro-Japan acts are related with their acts after the emancipation period. Their activities in the public sphere like journalist have an effect on the hierarchy, canonization between women writers.
