辭說時調는 노랫말과 樂曲의 兩面에서 歌曲의 모범으로 삼을 수 없는 문제가 있어서 그 由來가 오래되었음에도 정보가 不在하거나 外面되어 온 탓에 그 발생과 향유 계층, 악곡의 實相에 대해 여러 혼란된 주장이 제기되었다. 이에 本稿에서는 그 享有의 측면을 중시하되 특히 ‘서술 특징’에 유의하여 해명함으로써 사설시조의 正體性을 온당하게 해명할 수 있다는 관점에서 논의를 펼쳤다. 그리하여 사설시조는 음악적으로나 문학적으로 平時調의 基本틀을 維持한 채로 말을 촘촘히 엮어 짜나가는 서술 확장의 방식을 특징으로 함을 밝히고, 그 유래도 高麗 末에 평시조와 함께 향유하는 자리에서 자연스럽게 生成되었음을 규명했다. 나아가 사설시조의 이러한 서술특징이 현대시조에는 그 正統型이라 할 ‘形相의 連鎖的 竝置型’과 抒情의 확장型이라 할 ‘이야기型’으로 계승되고 있음을 살폈다.
Abstract
Despite its long history, Sasulshijo which had the problem of being not made a model of songs in both aspects such as word and tune has been asserted in various confusing ways about its occurrence, the class who enjoyed it and the real condition of its tune because there was no information on it or because people turned their faces away from it. This thesis, hereupon, developed discussions from the viewpoint of clarifying its identity justly by attaching importance to the aspect of enjoyment but especially clarifying it paying attention to its ‘descriptive features'. By doing so, it clarified that it was characterized by the descriptively expanding method of weaving words tightly maintaining the basic frame of Pyungshijo musically or literarily. It closely examined that for its origin it was naturally generated enjoyed with Pyungshijo at the end of Goryu. Further, it explored that its descriptive features were succeeded to in modern shijo by ‘formal consecutive juxtaposing type' that will be said to be its orthodox type and ‘narrative type' that will be said to be lyric expanding type.
