『三國遺事』 道伴說話의 확장과 변모

본고의 목적은 유사한 敍事構造를 가진 세 편의 설화가 어떻게 확장되어 갔는지 밝히는 것이다. 이를 통해 각 설화의 의미가 분명해질 것이다. 본고의 대상은 道伴說話라 칭할 수 있는 ‘南白月二聖努肹夫得怛怛朴朴’, ‘廣德嚴莊’, ‘包山二聖’이다. 논의 결과 세 편의 설화는 ‘包山二聖’의 서사구조를 바탕으로 확장되었음을 볼 수 있었다. ‘包山二聖’은 道伴의 修道가 중심인 이야기이며, ‘廣德嚴莊’은 道伴의 修道 결과로 西昇한 내용이 덧붙여진 이야기였다. ‘南白月’은 修道의 결과 成佛하고 그 증거로 절과 佛像이 생기게 된 이야기였다. 그래서 ‘包山二聖’은 修道說話, ‘廣德嚴莊’은 往生說話, ‘南白月’은 緣起說話의 성격을 갖게 된 것이다. 각 설화의 성격은 『三國遺事』에 수록된 篇目을 통해서도 확인된다. ‘包山二聖’이 避隱편에, ‘廣德嚴莊’이 感通편에, ‘南白月’이 塔像편에 수록된 것은 각 설화의 성격에 기인한 것이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to clarify how three folktales, which have similar narrative structure, proceeded with being extended. Through this process, the meaning in each folktale will be clarified. Three folktales, which are the subjects of this study, include Nambaekwol[南白月], Gwangdeokeomjang[廣德嚴莊], and Posaniseong[包山二聖], which can be called as Buddhist folktale. As a result of discussion, three folktales can be seen to have been extended on the basis of the narrative structure in Posaniseong. Posaniseong was a story that has the center as a hermits. Gwangdeok- eomjang was a story that was added the specified contents in sympathy with Buddha to a story in hermits. Nambaekwol was a story that the result of spiritual discipline led to becoming Buddha and that its evidence led to creating a Buddhist temple. Thus, it came to be characterized by the story of hermit as for Posaniseong, by the story of going after death as for Gwangdeokeomjang, and by the story of pratityasamutpada as for Nambaekwol. And, this characteristic in each folktale is confirmed even through category, which is recorded in Samgukyusa. What is recorded Posaniseong in Pieun[避隱] section, Gwangdeokeomjang in Gamtong[感通] section, and Nambaekwol in Tapsang[塔像] section is what was attributed to the characteristic in each folktale.
