이 論文은 話者가 문장이 表象하는 사건에 대해 肯定的 혹은 否定的 평가를 내리는 ‘事件 評價 樣態性’이 國語의 語尾나 그 對當 表現에 존재한다는 것을 밝히고, 양태성 의미 범주를 한국어의 有意味한 의미 범주로 설정해야 한다는 것을 논증했다. 양태성을 ‘命題에 대한 話者의 心理的․精神的 態度’라는 廣義로서의 의미 범주로 보면 명제에 대한 好否도 국어에서 유의미한 양태 의미 범주로 볼 수 있다. 이러한 事件 好否 評價 양태성을 갖고 있는 어미와 대당 표현들이 문장의 다른 구성 요소와 呼應하여 다양한 감정 상태를 나타낸다는 것을 보였다. 해당 어미들이 나타낸다고 보았던 다양한 감정들은 사건의 好否 평가를 바탕으로 여러 구성 요소가 결합하여 생기는 추론적 의미 특성이라는 것을 밝혔다. 이를 통해 종래 ‘아쉬움’, ‘기대’, ‘우려’ 등과 같이 個別的으로 제시한 어미의 의미 기능을 體系的으로 分類할 수 있는 可能性을 얻을 수 있었다.
Abstract
Modality refers to the speaker's opinion or attitude towards the proposition that the sentence expresses. So we seem to regard the speaker's emotional evaluation towards the proposition as one of modalities. At this paper, I demonstrated that there are the endings and the corresponding expressions that represents speaker's evaluatives of likes and dislikes. This is one of reasons that Korean endings is dif- ferentiated. Also I argued that evaluatives of likes and dislike must be set up into one of modality categories of Korean. When these ending are realized, it is expressed which the sentence is the good event or the bad event. In cooperation with a diverse constitutes of the sentence, these endings represent various emotions, for examples, inconvenience, expectation, worry etc.
