A Study on the Correlativity between the Tone of Middle Korean and the Punctuations Written in Mokwucaswusimkyel Owned by Ogura Library of the University of Tokyo

本稿의 目的은 東京大學 小倉文庫 所藏 『牧牛子修心訣』 諺解文에 朱墨으로 記入된 句讀點의 性格, 特히 그 句讀點과 中世 韓國語 聲調의 相關性을 밝히며, 아울러 中世語 聲調 硏究에 있어서 分析 對象이 되는 單位 設定이라는 方法論에 對하여 問題를 提起하는 데 있다. 中世 韓國語 聲調에 對한 旣存의 硏究에서는 ‘氣息群’이나 ‘語節’과 같은 單位가 聲調의 基本的 單位로 看做되어 왔다. 그런데 實際로 中世 韓國語 文獻에 나타나는 聲調를 分析하면 그러한 槪念으로는 捕捉하기 어려운, 純粹히 聲調的 層位에서의 單位를 觀察할 수 있다. 小倉本 『牧牛子修心訣』에 記入된 句讀點에 對한 本稿의 分析을 通하여, 그 句讀點 中에는 純粹한 聲調 單位의 境界와 密接한 關聯이 있는 것으로 생각되는 例가 存在함이 밝혀졌으며, 同時에 그러한 聲調 單位 設定에 對하여 15世紀 韓國語의 言衆의 直觀이라는 根據를 附與할 수 있었다.
Abstract
This study examines the characteristics of the punctuations written in Mokwucaswusimkyel in Ogura Library of the University of Tokyo, and then investigates the correlativity between the punctuations and the tone of Middle Korean. The issue of methodology of certifying the tonal unit of Middle Korean is also discussed. It has often been regarded in previous studies that those units such as 'breath group' or 'syntagma' are the basic unit of the tone. Through the analysis into the tone of Middle Korean, however, it emerges that there exists pure tonal units which cannot be treated on such perspectives. By analyzing into the punctuations in Mokwucaswusimkyel in Ogura Library, it is observed that some of those punctuations correlate closely with the boundary of pure tonal units, and that such certifying of tonal unit can be confirmed by the evidence the intuition of native speakers in fifteenth century.
