程度副詞의 意味機能과 文章意味 構成 －‘매우’, ‘아주’, ‘가장’ 등을 中心으로－

이 論文은 程度副詞가 後行하는 被修飾語의 程度性을 明細한다는 旣存 見解에 問題를 提起하고 정도부사는 文章이 의미하는 全體 事件이나 狀態의 程度性을 明細한다고 주장한다. 이를 위해 정도부사가 非後行 요소와도 의미관계를 맺고 있다는 것, 더불어 다른 構成要素에 의해 共起 制約 關係에 있다고 논의된 被修飾語의 制約이 解消되는 현상 등을 提示하였다. 정도부사를 그 의미기능에 따라 다음과 같이 分類하였다. 比較에 基盤한 정도부사. ‘매우’, ‘꽤’ 등은 非限定的 狀態와의 비교를 통해 그 程度性을 明細하며, ‘가장’, ‘훨씬’ 등은 限定的 상태와의 比較를 통해 程度性을 明細한다. 比率에 基盤한 정도부사. ‘아주’, ‘거의’ 등은 그 문장이 의미하는 사건이나 상태가 該當 文脈에서 想定할 수 있는 사건이나 상태와 關聯한 比率이 1이거나 그에 가깝다는 의미를 나타낸다.
Abstract
At this paper, I raised a question that degree adverbs clarify the degrees of a next modificand and I demonstrated that degree adverbs define the degrees of state or event. To prove this point, I showed the following phenomena. Degree adverbs establish the semantic relation with the other constitutes besides a next modificand. Also, co-occurrence restrictions of modificand disappear with the realization of the other constitutes. I researched the semantic functions of various degree adverbs from the perspective of ‘Holism’. Through this inspection, degree adverbs are classified according to the semantic functions as follows. First, degree adverbs based on comparison. ‘maeu(매우)’, ‘kkwae(꽤)’ etc. defines the degrees of the state in comparison with infinite states. ‘gajang(가장)’, ‘hwolssin(훨씬)’ etc. defines the degree of the state in comparison with finite states. Second, degree adverbs based on ratio. ‘aju(아주)’, ‘geoui(거의)’ etc. indicates that the ratio of the state to the whole states is one or about one.
