完板 『홍길동전』 原刊本의 출현, 그에 따른 板本과 刊行의 문제

Abstract

The publication and distribution of the newly identified Honggildongjeon (洪吉童傳. The Biography of Hong, gildong) was specifically confirmed through the 36 complete editions and 35 complete editions of the “Honggildongjeon” and the editions of the Gyeongpan, respectively. There are four known versions of Honggildongjeon, published in the late Joseon Dynasty. In addition to Wanpanbon(完板), these include the Gyeongpan (京板) edition printed in Seoul, the Anseong edition printed in Anseong, Gyeonggi-do, and the manuscript(安城板). However, the Wanpanbon version of Honggildongjeon, discovered this time, is the first original published in several later books. This is evaluated as evidence that Honggildongjeon was written in the late Joseon Dynasty. It was estimated that 36 complete editions appeared in 1857 and 35 complete editions in 1890. This is because the passage of the Gyeongpan “Honggildongjeon”, which is believed to have been published around the 1840s, or in the mid-19th century, was found in the complete version of “Honggildongjeon”. The new data showed that the contents that can only be found on the complete plate existed from the early “Honggildongjeon”. This can be said to be is evidence that the early Gyeongpan “Honggildongjeon”, which was lost in competition, was moved to another area and revived. The newly identified “Honggildongjeon” data showed the diverse appearance of the book market surrounding the publication of the “Honggildongjeon” by the rumor of the accusation. Therefore, it is necessary to think about consider the possibility that the novel was created through various channels.
