Abstract
Cooperative teaching, in which a general educator and a special educator(or related service personnel) teach together simultaneously in a general education classroom composed of academically heterogeneous students, has rapidly emerged as an effective way to facilitate the inclusion of students with diverse educational needs. This article provided comprehensive review about cooperative teaching including the definition of and rationale for co-teaching, guidelines for effective co-teaching, various types of co-teaching, planning for co-teaching, and barriers for successful co-teaching. Additional discussion was provided regarding issues in the decision of co-teaching time and amount, co-teaching participants(both teachers and students), and the relationship among inclusion, teacher collaboration, and co-teaching
