이 연구는 우리나라 청년층의 취업선호도 변화 양태를 분석하고, 이러한 변화에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 탐색하였다. 현재 10차(2013년)까지 구축된 교육고용패널 자료 중에서 취업선호도 관련 정보를 담고 있는 7차～10차 자료를 대상으로 하여 분석하였다. 취업선호도를 최소임금 수준, 근무조건, 직장유형, 근무지역의 네 차원으로 구분하여 집단중심모형 분석을 실시한 결과, 해당 기간 동안 비슷한 수준의 취업선호도를 유지한 집단, 증가하거나 감소한 집단, 그리고 급격한 변화를 보인 집단이 구분되어 드러났다. 이러한 변화에 영향을 준 요인들을 사회인구학적 변인(성별, 학력), 노동시장 변인(구직활동 여부), 임금근로자의 첫 번째 일자리 특성 변인(근무형태, 직장규모, 평균 근로시간, 월평균 임금) 등을 통해 살펴보았다. 분석한 네 차원인 최소임금 수준, 근무조건, 직장유형, 근무지역에 따라 취업선호도 변화에 영향을 미친 변인들은 다르게 나타났으며, 어떤 변인들은 여러 가지 취업선호도 변화에 공통적으로 영향을 미치는가 하면 어떤 변인들은 취업선호도 분야에 따라 서로 다른 영향을 미치기도 하였다. 이 연구결과가 청년층 노동시장의 수요 및 공급 측면에 대해 제공하는 시사점을 논의하고, 이 연구의 한계점과 향후 연구에서 이를 개선할 수 있는 연구방안을 제시하였다.
Abstract
This study was aimed to analyze changes of job preference among the young in South Korea, and to explore factors influencing the pattern of this change. For this study, 7th to 10th waves of Korean Education and Employment Panel data, including information about job preference, were used. Job preference was divided into four dimensions, including minimum wage, working conditions, workplace types, and working areas. In order to examine change patterns of these different dimensions, this study applied the group-based modeling method. Four groups were identified - groups having a similar level of job preference for a certain period of time, increased or decreased groups, and rapidly changed groups. The factors influencing these patterns of changes were demographic factors including gender, academic background, residential areas, factors relating school life(e.g., types of high school, business ability development in college, field exercise or internship experiences in college), labor market factors(e.g., job searching activities, employment or unemployment, types of current job), characteristics of first job(e.g., working patterns, size of corporation, average working hours, monthly wage). Depending on the four dimensions such as minimum wage level, working conditions, workplace types, and working areas, the factors influencing changes of job preference were different. Some factors had common influence on various dimensions of job preference, while some factors affected only some job preference dimensions. The current study concludes with implications and limitations which suggest to improve labor markets by reflecting demand and supply of the labor market for the young in the South Korea.
