제주지역 후천적시청각장애인의 의사소통 실태와 서비스 욕구에 대한 탐색연구: 성인기에 중복장애를 가진 장애인을 중심으로

연구목적: 본 연구의 목적은 후천적 시청각장애인의 의사소통 실태와 욕구를 파악하여 필요한 지원방안을 마련하기 위한 기초자료를 제공하는 것이다. 연구방법: 본 연구의 대상은 제주연구원 제주사회복지연구센터에서 실시한 「시청각중복장애인 실태조사 및 기본계획 수립」 설문조사에 참여한 후천적 시청각장애인 114명이다. 자료분석을 위해 SPSS 25를 활용하여 빈도분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과: 첫째, 시청각장애인 중 60세 이상의 노인 비율이 92.8%로 매우 높게 나타났고, 나이가 들수록 의사전달에 더 큰 어려움을 경험하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 상당수의 시청각장애인은 배우고 싶은 의사소통방법이 없다고 응답하였는데 그 이유로 나이와 장애를 들어 배울 수 없다는 생각이 크다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 시청각장애인은 문자이해를 위해 한글을 가장 많이 사용하고, 주로 공공 및 민간서비스 기관을 통해 정보를 획득하는 것으로 나타났다. 관심 있는 정보를 확보하는 정도의 면에서 시청각장애인 3명 중 1명은 충분한 정보를 확보하는 어려움을 경험하는 것으로 나타나 정보접근성 개선이 시급함을 알 수 있다. 넷째, 시청각장애인이 가장 필요로 하는 지원은 의사소통 및 정보접근을 위한 보조기기 관련 지원이며, 마지막으로, 시청각장애인 지원센터를 통한 전문적 돌봄과 지원을 필요로 하는 것으로 나타났다. 결론: 이상의 결과를 토대로 시청각장애인의 의사소통과 정보접근의 증진을 위한 지원 방안을 제안하였다.
Abstract
Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify the communication status and needs of services of people with adult-onset deaf-blindness in order to provide a preliminary data for service plans. Method: The subjects of this study were 114 people with adult-onset deaf-blindness who participated in the survey conducted by the Jeju Research Institute and the Jeju Social Welfare Research Center. To analyze data, frequency analysis was implemented. Results: First, it was found that the older they get, the greater the difficulties in communicating with others. Second, a majority of the participants reported they did not have communication methods they wanted to learn due to their ages and disabilities. Third, one out of three people with deaf-blindness was found to have difficulties in acquiring information, indicating that it is urgent to improve access to information. Lastly, assistive devices and support through a center for the deaf-blind were highly needed. Conclusion: Based on these results, a support plan for the enhancement of communication and information access for the deaf and visually impaired was proposed.
