Abstract
This study aims to empirically analyze how the characteristics of virtual influencers affect consumer escapism and how such escapism mediates purchase intention. In today’s digital environment, virtual influencers exert influence comparable to real individuals, stimulating consumers’ emotional immersion and desire for everyday escape. Accordingly, this study hypothesized that influencer characteristics—expertise, attractiveness, and authenticity—induce consumer escapism and subsequently influence purchase intention. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire, and empirical analyses were conducted using SPSS, including descriptive statistics and regression-based methods. The results indicate that the characteristics of virtual influencers have a significant positive effect on consumer escapism and that escapism positively influences purchase intention. These findings highlight the necessity of considering emotional escapism mechanisms in the development of virtual influencer marketing strategies and provide practical implications for marketing communication and UX design. Future research should expand the diversity of samples and examine differences across types of virtual influencers to enhance external validity.
