본 연구는 이전소득이 빈곤수준을 낮추는데 얼마만큼 영향을 미쳤는지에 대해 분석하였는데, OECD기준에 입각하여 분석함으로써, 연구결과를 OECD 주요국들과 직접비교 가능하게 하였다. 이를 위해 우리나라의 1996년과 2000년 빈곤율을 비교함으로써 그동안 어떤 변화가 있었는지를 보여주었고 아울러 우리나라 상대 빈곤율을 주요 OECD국가들의 상대빈곤율과 비교하였다. 또한 공적 이전소득이 빈곤율 축소에 미치는 효과분석 결과를 OECD 국가들의 그것과 비교함으로써 우리나라의 이전소득이 빈곤수준 축소에 미치는 효과가 어느 정도인지를 파악할 수 있게 하였다.
Abstract
This study analyses the impact of Korean transfer income on the poverty reduction. Absolute and relative poverty ratios in 1996 and 2000 in Korea have been measured on the basis of the OECD criteria to directly compare this study's results with those of the OECD member states. As a result, we found that Korean public transfer income has relatively insignificant impact upon poverty reduction in comparison with the size of poverty ratios decreased by public transfer income in the OECD member states.
