Abstract

Since 2024, “new quality productive forces” has become a heated concept among the Chinese government policy makers and academic researchers. Various media have also intensively reported and promoted its theoretical construction and future prospects. Raised by President Xi Jinping, the concept of “new quality productive forces” has significant impacts to the transition of Chinese economic growth and the achievement of “Chinese path to modernization.” Given the present Sino-U.S. global strategic rivalry and the US economic decoupling with the China via the “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” strategy, “new quality productive forces” marks a critical transformation in China’s economic and industrial development. Hence, the understanding on the motivation, connotation and influence of “new quality productive forces” in nowadays China can be deemed as crucial for analyzing the future development path of China. At present, relevant studies on “new quality productive forces” do not only prevail in China domestically, but has also been extended to oversea China observers and researchers. This study aims to introduce China’s “new quality productive forces” narrative and policy motivations to South Korean academia and policy researchers, and endeavors to investigating its theoretical connotations on China’s future development. In addition, this article also investigates the new policy trends on China’s strategic emerging industries.
