이 연구의 목적은 초등학생들에게 환경 문제 이해를 위한 생활 습관의 기초를 형성하고, 환경 친화적인 태도가 정착될 수 있도록 실과 시간에 운영할 수 있는 활동 중심의 도심하천 체험 환경 교육프로그램을 개발하는 것이다. 이 연구는 준비·개발·개선의 3단계를 거쳐 진행되었다. 첫째, 기존에 개발된 환경 교육 관련 자료 검색을 통하여 활동 중심의 환경 교육 영역 및 활동을 정리하고 울산환경운동연합 등 환경 관련 기관을 방문하여 초등학교 환경 교육의 영역과 내용을 고려한 자료를 수집하였다. 둘째, 프로그램 개발 절차에 따라 학생용 활동 자료와 교사용 지도 자료로 구성된 도심하천 체험 환경 교육 프로그램을 개발하였다. 셋째, 개발된 프로그램은 전문가 집단에 의한 타당도 검증과 학생에 의한 현장평가 실시 후 그 결과에 따라 수정·보완하였다. 개발된 프로그램은 다음과 같은 특징을 갖는다. 첫째, 초등학교의 실과 시간 및 창의적 체험 활동 시간, 환경 교육 기관 등에서 활용할 수 있도록 학생용 활동 자료와 교사용 참고 자료로 구성되어 있다. 둘째, 초등학생들이 도심 하천을 중심으로 환경 문제를 생각하고, 환경 조사의 요소와 방법 및 자연과 사회 환경과의 관계를 이해하도록 안내하였다. 셋째, 환경에 대한 관심과 환경 친화적 태도를 가지게 하고, 환경 생활화 의식을 향상시킬 수 있도록 하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to develop activity-centered environmental programs in urban streams which could encourage elementary school students to have an environmental friendly attitudes and to form a good habit helping them to better understand environmental issues. This study had been carried out with in three stages: preparation, development and improvement. First, based on literature review, activity-centered environment education domains were classified and with the consideration of the areas and contents of environment education in elementary schools, research data were collected from environment related organizations such as the Korean Federation for Environmental Movement. Second, according to program development procedures, activity-centered environmental programs had been developed which were composed of activity materials for students and guide materials for teachers Third, the developed programs were revised and complemented with validity analysis by experts and field evaluation by students. The developed programs here had following characteristics:First, these programs were made up of activity materials for students and guide materials for teachers to be used in practical arts and creative activities. Second, these programs could help elementary school students to think of environmental issues and understand the elements and methods of environment research and the relationship between natural environment and social environment Third, these programs could encourage elementary school students to boost their interest in environment and perception of it.
