꽃의 시적 표상에 대한 주제론적 접근

이 연구는 문학 주제론적 접근이 현재 딜레마에 빠져 있는 고전시가 교육의 유의미한 방법론이 될 수 있는 가능성을 모색하는 데 목적이 있다. 주제론적 방법이 문화의 전승과 재창조라는 문학교육 본연의 목적에도 부합하는 동시에, 경험의 확장을 통한 개인의 성장이라는 교육 일반의 원리에도 적절히 호응한다고 보았다. 이를 위해 먼저 우리 시가사에서 가장 흔하게 나타나는 꽃이 어떤 표상을 지니는가에 관심을 두고, 왜 그런 표상을 지니는가를 살폈다. 이 과정에서 <헌화가>에 대한 선행 연구들을 참조하여 꽃에 대한 두 가지 시각을 추출하여 후대 작품에 나타난 꽃의 시적 표상을 이해하는 준거로 삼았다. 이에 따라 꽃은 크게 미를 표상하기도 하고 신성을 표상하기도 한다는 점을 밝혔다. 또 문학 작품의 예기치 않은 차원을 노출해야 한다는 주제론적 방법의 취지에 맞추어, 꽃이 아름다운 이유와 신성한 이유도 밝혔다. 꽃이 아름다운 이유는 그것이 시간적으로 유한한 존재이기 때문이고, 신성을 표상하는 것은 낙화 뒤에 반드시 다시 개화하는 생명력 때문이라 할 수 있다. 또한 꽃의 두 가지 시적 표상이 오늘날의 시에 지속되고 변이되는 양상도 함께 살핌으로써, ‘지금-여기’에 대한 학습자들의 관심에 호응할 수 있는 주제론적 접근의 가능성도 검토했다. 꽃을 소재로 한 근대 이후의 시에서는 꽃에 대한 과학적 인식이 문학적 상상력을 통해 인간사의 이치를 노래하는 작품의 소재로 변주되고 있음을 확인할 수 있다. 문학 주제론은 개별 작품을 상호텍스트적으로 연결해 나가면서 폭넓은 이해를 도모하는 데 적절한 교육 방법론이다. 이를 통해 학습자들은 고전문학의 역사성을 정신적 성장의 동력으로 활용하는 의미 있는 체험을 할 수 있을 것으로 보인다.
Abstract
This article aims to search the methodological possibility of literary thematics in teaching classical poetry falling into a dilemma nowadays. Literary thematics seems to not only answer to the transmission and recreation of culture, the goal of literature education but also correspond to personal growth through expansion of experience. For this aim, the representation of flower is classified by the criterion of perspective to the flower in Heonhwa-ga(獻花歌). The representation of flower in this text is divided into that of beauty and divinity in the previous researches. Almost of flower in the later literary text belong to one of these two representations. We need to recognize why the flower is beautiful or divine, because literary thematics aims to expose the unpredictable aspect of literary text. I assumed that the flower is beautiful because of its falling down and the flower is divine because of its certain rebirth. It is necessary to pay attention to the persistence and change of the representation, because learner or reader of nowadays is interested in present literature. It is inevitable teaching-learning process in present literature class. It is clarified that the flower in modern poem is recognized on the base of scientific thought. For example, if the flower is fall down, the fruit is born at the very branch. Literary thematics is appropriate methodology to appreciate and understand literary texts by associate the texts on the base of intertextuality. It will make the learner of classic poetry apply the historical significance to the intellectual and mental growth.
