Abstract

This thesis seeks to determine Manhuingchunglyu’s significance in and around songs that show daily scenes from people’s lives throughthedays, when discussing Manhuingchunglyu in Kim Chuntaek by Cheongguyeongeon. The aspect of actual experiences in residential districts comes alive in Manhuingchunglyu's songs. It is described as the root of people's professions, intimately connected to their daily lives, experienced through the songs. It is also drawn as a figurative space in which life's conflicts are shown superficially. Furthermore, the activities of mounting and boating, which are represented as characteristic of a community, reveal a sense of group self- esteem or perhaps converge as a way of praising the king and country by praising the country's territory. Just as songs were widespread in this time, so the ecology and the shape of their subject are drawn vividly. Relationships between people, the aspect of conflict, and the finiteness of humanity are undeniable aspects of nature, which are described dramatically in the style of ridiculous storytelling. According to Manhuingchunglyu, whose ancient history has spread throughout the world, the act of singing on stage is also referred to as an important basis for interpretation. This dynamic of songs originated in daily lives, based on life experiences, and presented human nature in a positive light. Indeed, this aspect of Korean songs and singing culture in general is found easily in Manhuingchunglyu:the most important significance of Kim Chuntaek by Cheongguyeongeon could be the mainstreaming of the cultural values of a specific space, ascribing daily lives with historical value and marking the time accumulated in oral heritage.
