이 연구에서는 김남주의 시를 독자의 읽는 능력에 의존해 문학 해석의 질을 구성하는 인유의 기법으로 분석한다. 김남주 시의 인유 연구는 독자가 김남주 시와 함께 김수영, 신동엽의 시를 수용할 경우 생겨나는 정동적 변화를 추론해, 인유의 구성이 김남주 시 읽기에 미치는 정동적 수행성을 밝히는 데 의의가 있다. 김남주는 짧은 시어, 시구 단위에서 김수영, 신동엽의 시를 차용해 독자가 문학적 전통 내에서 형성한 투쟁의 정동을 성찰적으로 또는 통합적으로 고양한다. 김남주는 남의 시에 의존하지 않더라도 자기 말로 쓸 수 있는 상황에서 문학적 수사로서 김수영, 신동엽의 시를 비유적으로 활용한다. 이로 인해 독자는 김남주의 시를 읽으며 과거에 읽은 친숙한 시를 매개로 정동의 변화를 경험할 수 있다. 김남주의 시는 김수영 시의 인유를 통해 현실의 일상에 쌓인 비겁하거나, 우울한 정동에 의해 자기 자신을 반성하며 살아가게 하는 대신에 부당한 현실에 맞서 싸우는 투쟁의 절정에서 좌절하지 않는 불굴의 정동을 고양한다. 신동엽의 시 인유를 통해서는 인류의 해방 운동에 선구적으로 나선 이들의 위엄과 억압받는 민중을 향한 사랑의 정동을 활성화하여 차별하고 억압하는 계급에 대한 증오의 정동까지도 능동적으로 현실 투쟁에 관여하도록 고양한다. 인유는 김남주 시의 전체를 지배하는 주된 비유일 수 없겠으나 김수영과 신동엽 등 문학적 전임자의 성취를 상속하여 그 연장선상에서 독자가 평소 지닌 투쟁의 정동을 촉진하는 중요한 비유이다.
Abstract
This study analyzes the characteristics of Kim Nam-ju’s poetry using the methodology of allusion that constructs the quality of literary interpretation based on the reader’s reading ability. The study of allusion in Kim Nam-ju’s poetry is significant in inferring the affective changes that occur when readers accept the poems of Kim Soo-young and Shin Dong-yeop alongside Kim Nam-ju’s own, revealing the affective performance influenced by the composition of allusion in reading Kim Nam-ju’s poetry. Kim Nam-ju borrows from the poetry of Kim Soo-young and Shin Dong-yeop in short poetic words and phrases, to reflectively or integrally heighten the reader’s affective responses to the struggles formed within the literary tradition. Metaphorically employing the poetry of Kim Soo-young and Shin Dong-yeop as a literary trope, Kim Nam-ju’s poetry enables readers to undergo a shift in affect by resonating with familiar poems they have read in the past. Kim Nam-ju’s poetry, by alluding to Kim Soo-young’s poetry, uplifts the indomitable affect of fighting resolutely at the pinnacle of the struggle against unjust reality. Rather than compelling individuals to live through introspection on themselves due to the cowardly or gloomy affects accumulated in everyday life. Kim Nam-ju’s poetry, by alluding to Shin Dong-yeop’s poetry, activates a spectrum of affects, ranging from the dignity of those who have proactively led the liberation movement for humanity to the affection towards the oppressed masses, and even to the active engagement in real-life struggles against discriminatory and oppressive class. This includes fostering love, activating animosity, and encouraging active involvement in the struggle against discrimination and oppression. While allusion may not be the dominant trope in all of Kim Nam-ju’s poetry, it is a crucial trope that acknowledges the achievements of literary predecessors such as Kim Soo-young and Shin Dong-yeop and, as an extension of that, stimulates the reader’s affective response to struggle.
