본 연구는 한국어 교육학 분야에서의 연구 유형을 분류하고 분석할 수있는 체계적이고 포괄적인 체제를 제안하고자한다. 이는 한 연구의 분석결과가 동일한 분야의 다른 연구의 분석 결과와 직접적으로 비교될 수없는 결과를 낳는, 새로운 분류 및 분석 연구가 수행될 때마다 이미 존재하는 체제를 다시 새롭게 만드느라 쓸데없이 시간을 낭비하는 폐해를 반복하지 않기 위한 시도이다. 본 연구는 다음과 같이 진행되었다. (1) 본연구와 직접적으로 관련된 문헌(즉 주로 James Dean Brown의 선구적인연구)인 Brown(1988)을 시초로 삼아 그 이후로 제안된 연구 유형 분류또는 범주화 체계에 대한 변경을 연대순으로 검토하였다; (2) 최근 한국어 교육학 분야의 양적 및 질적 연구에 관한 경향 분석 연구 2편과 국어교육학 분야의 연구 1편을 검토하였다; 그리고 (3) 문헌 조사를 토대로 Brown(2015)의 체제를 대폭 개정하고 확장한 체계를 제안하였다. 본 연구의 한계와 한국어 교육학 분야에서 제안된 분류 틀을 적용하는 가능성을 논의하였다.
Abstract
This study aims to suggest a systematic and comprehensive system to classify and analyze types of research in Teaching Korean to Speakers of Other Languages. This is intended not to reinvent the wheel every time a new classification and analysis study is conducted, resulting in a study whose results are not directly comparable to those of other studies in the same research domain. The study proceeded as follows: (1) the literature directly relevant to this study (i.e., mainly James Dean Brown’s pioneering research in the field) was traced back to Brown (1988) and from then on chronologically reviewed, comparing and evaluating the changes made to a system of research type classification or categorization; (2) the two recent trend analysis studies on quantitative and qualitative research in TKSOL respectively and one such study in Korean Language Education were reviewed; and (3) based on the survey of the literature, a system, much revised and expanded from that in Brown (2015), was suggested. Limitations of the study and possible applications of the system for the field were discussed.
