小川未明「角笛吹く子」と宮沢賢治「水仙月の四日」の比較考察

일본의 著名한 동화작가인 오가와 미메이(小川未明)와 미야자와 겐지(宮沢賢治)는 동시대에 활약하여 많은 공통점을 찾을 수 있으나, 지금까지는 각각이 개성이 돋보이는 작가로서 개별적으로 거론되는 경우가 많았다. 본고에서는 등장인물의 관계나 역할에 유사성이 인정되는 미메이의 동화 「角笛吹く子」와 겐지의 동화 「水仙月の四日」를 들어 각동화의 특징을 논한 후, 공통점과 차이점에 대해 비교 고찰하였다. 또 동시기에 쓰여진 미메이의「赤い蠟燭と人魚」, 겐지의 「雪渡り」와의 연관성을 고려함으로써, 두 작품이 쓰여진 시기에 있어서 미메이와 겐지의 문학적 경향을 분명히 하였다. 「角笛吹く子」에서는 계절의 변화를 神話的으로 재현하는 것이 중심으로 되어 있으나, 「水仙月の四日」에서는 조난당한 인간의 아이를 구하려는 雪童子의 드라마를 그리는 것이 중심이 되고 있다. 두 작가는 각각 태어나고 자란 풍토를 동화의 중요한 토양으로 삼았지만, 미메이는 高田의 자연을 인간이 볼 때 그곳이 살 만한 가치 있는 장소로서의 의미를 부여하려고 했고, 겐지는 岩手의 자연을 인간의 관여를 뛰어넘는 異世界로 파악하려고 한 것으로 분석하고 比較考察하였다.
Abstract
Famous Japanese fairy tale writers Mimei Ogawa and Kenji Miyazawa are often discussed separately as writers with distinctive personalities, although they share many commonalities as they were active in the same era. In this paper, I will take up Mimei's fairy tale Tsunobue hukuko［The Child Who Plays the Horn］and Kenji's fairy tale Suisenduki no yokka［The Fourth Day of the Narcissus Month］, which have similarities in the relationships and roles of the characters, discuss the characteristics of each fairy tale, and then compare their similarities and differences. I will also consider the relationship with Akairousoku to Ninngyo［The Red Candle and the Mermaid］and Yukiwatari［Crossing the Snow］, which were written around the same time, and clarify the literary tendencies of Mimei and Kenji during the period when the two stories were written. Tsunobue hukuko focuses on the mythical reproduction of seasonal changes, while Suisenduki no yokkafocuses on the drama of the snow child who tries to rescue a human child who is lost at snow. Both writers considered the climate in which they were born and raised to be important soil for their fairy tales, but I will discuss how Mimei tried to give meaning to the nature of Takada as a place worth living in from a human perspective, while Kenji tried to understand the nature of Iwate as another world that defies human involvement.
