초록
The early modern era is a time when court dance and folk dance as traditional dance change with the advent of a new era called modernity, and are in a position to change from traditional dance to modern dance. In the history of Korean dance, the traditional dance of gisaeng, which was mediated by Gwonbeon during the Japanese colonial period, promoted rapid de- velopment. In a situation where the purpose of dance performance, performance location, and dance audience have changed, the dance of gisaeng, who were ab- sorbed in dancing traditional dance in their own way and seeking a methodol- ogy, was sublimated into a dance with outstanding aesthetic form. The traditional dances we encounter today grew out of this very background. As they moved from traditional society to modern society, the gisaeng's ef- forts to preserve and pass on the tradition were very fierce amidst the historical situation of losing their home and stage of activity that they had experienced under Japanese colonial rule and the power of the new culture and new dance of the time. In the changing times and environmental changes, we can see that the beginning of modern dance preceded new dance from the efforts and activities of gisaengs who not only promoted the transmission of Jeongjae but also sought to create a new dance style that harmonizes Jeongjae and folk dance. Currently, as the tradition of Gwonbeon continues after liberation, efforts are being made to transmit and disseminate traditional arts, with active activities and research taking place regarding traditional arts in general. Folk dance and court dance are taught to students through systematic and professional education through traditional arts education institutions from middle school to university. The succession of this traditional culture was possible because of the strong national spirit and artistic pride of a group of traditional art artists such as Gwon Beon.
