Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the differences in creative self-concept, creative poten tial, and creative motivation levels of dance majors according to the creative mindset cluster profile. The subjects of the study were dance majors from five universities located in Seoul, Gyeonggi Province, and Chungcheong Province, and 458 students (49 males, 409 females) participated in the survey. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, cluster analysis, one-way multivariate analysis (one-way MANOVA), and post hoc tests. The findings were as follows: First, cluster analysis of creative mindset revealed four clusters: High growth-high fixed mindset cluster, high fixed-low growth mindset cluster, high growth-low fixed mindset cluster, and high growth-low fixed mindset cluster. Second, creative self-efficacy and creative personal identity levels of creative self-concept are highest in the high growth-low fixed mindset cluster. Third, among the sub-factors of creative poten tial, levels of rule- breaking and challenge are highest in the high growth-low fixed mindset group, but levels of exploration do not differ among the four groups. Fourth, among the sub-factors of crea tive trait motivation, intrinsic motivation is highest in the high growth-low fixed mindset group, ex trinsic motivation is highest in the high growth-high fixed mindset group, and the level of amotiva tion is highest in the high growth-high fixed mindset group and the high growth-low fixed mindset group. These results suggest that having a mindset that creative abilities can grow not only enhances dance students' ability to generate new ideas, create original things, and solve problems innovatively, but also contributes to the development of divergent thinking during the problem-solving process.
