Abstract
The purpose of this study is to comprehensively and deeply understand not only individuals' values regarding cultural and artistic activities but also the quantity, quality, and sustainability of their participation. To achieve this, the study empirically analyzes the impact of motivations for partic- ipation in cultural and artistic activities on subjective well-being and social capital. Specifically, this research aims to examine the mediating effect of social capital in the relationship between cultural and artistic participation motivation and subjective well-being, as well as the moderating effect of cultural and artistic activity sustainability in the relationship between participation motivation and social capital. Data was collected using an online survey platform, and the collected data were ana- lyzed using SPSS 28.0 and Amos 29.0 software. Specifically, structural equation modeling was em- ployed to estimate the direct path coefficients, and bootstrapping (2,000 iterations) along with mul- ti-group analysis were conducted to verify the mediating and moderating effects. The analysis results indicate that motivations for participation in cultural and artistic activities positively influence sub- jective well-being and the formation of social capital. Furthermore, social capital also positively im- pacts subjective well-being. Additionally, social capital mediates the relationship between partic- ipation motivation and subjective well-being, while cultural and artistic activity sustainability moder- ates the relationship between participation motivation and social capital.
