Abstract
The purpose of this research was to examine the effects of different types of brainstorming, such as individual brainstorming, group brain- storming, and group brain-writing, on group creativity of elementary school students and college students. In order to achieve the above research purpose, thirty six elementary school students and twenty nine college students were divided into three brainstorming groups (individual brainstorming, group brainstorming, and group brain-writing) at random sampling. Each group students produced creative ideas(group creativity) on solving two brainstorming problems. The collected data of the creative ideas produced by the students were analyzed using one way ANOVA. The results of this study are as follows. First, in regard to the elementary school students, the individual brainstorming was more effective for the group creativity rather than the group brainstorming. But the effect of the group brain-writing did not show much statistic difference from the effect of individual or group brainstorming for the group creativity. Second, in regard to the college students, the individual brainstorming was the most effective method for the group creativity, then the group brain-writing was more effective than the group brainstorming for the group creativity. The results showed that process losses of group brainstorming and age factors affected the above difference in effect.
