본 연구의 목적은 청소년 또래조정활동의 효과를 분석하는데 있다. 청소년 또래조정활동의 효과분석에는 갈등해결유형 변화를 알아보기 위해 토마스-킬만 갈등해결유형분석도구(TKI) 척도와 문항이 사용되었다. 조사를 통해 나타난 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 또래조정교육 경험은 갈등해결유형 중 회피유형 수준을 통계적으로 유의미하게 경감시키는 것으로 나타났는데, 이는 또래조정교육이 학생들로 하여금 갈등을 회피하기 보다는 적극적으로 대면하도록 하는데 효과가 있음을 보여준다. 둘째, 갈등당사자로서 실제로 또래조정을 받아본 경험이 있는 학생들이나 또래조정인 경험이 있는 학생들의 경우 갈등해결유형 중 협조유형 수준을 통계적으로 유의미하게 증대시키는 것으로 나타났는데, 이는 갈등당사자로서 또래조정을 받아본 경험이나 또래조정인으로 참여한 경험이 학생들로 하여금 협조적인 관점에서 갈등을 해결하도록 하는데 효과가 있음을 보여준다. 이러한 연구결과는 단순히 또래조정 교육을 경험하는 것보다는 갈등당사자나 또래조정인으로서 직접 또래조정을 경험하였을 때 바람직한 갈등해결유형으로의 변화에 보다 더 큰 효과가 있을 것이라는 점을 시사한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to examine the effect of peer mediation activities for conflict resolution style. For this purpose, this paper employs Thomas-Kilmann conflict resolution instrument(TKI). Data were collected from 115 students who were participated in the peer mediation simulation contest organized by Dankook University. The major findings of this paper are as follows: 1) the peer mediation educational program effects on avoiding style at 0.05 significant level and collaborating style at 0.1 significant level; 2) the peer mediation activities as a conflict party effects on collaborating style at 0.05 significant level and avoiding style at 0.1 significant level; 3) the peer mediation activities as a conflict party effects on collaborating style at 0.05 significant level and avoiding and compromise style at 0.1 significant level. The results suggest the peer mediation activities are effective for the change of conflict resolution style positively.
