Abstract
The purpose of this study is to inquire into the relation between party discipline and conflict management in the U.S. Congress. It has been the conventional wisdom that the parties in the U.S. are not well-organized as well as have not strong discipline to control their members in the Congress. It has been regarded as a key factors to manage the conflicts amicably in the U.S. Congress. However, the political polarization among the parties is lately deepening in American politics. In this vein, it is very important to analyze which factors have influence on the changes of party politics as well as their effects on conflict management in the U.S. Congress. Furthermore, this study give a lot of implications on party politics and legislative politics in the Korean National Assembly because Korea adopts presidentialism same as the U.S. but its operations related with party politics are quitely different.
