내러티브 연구방법을 통한 개인과 사회적 상호관계에 관한 연구 - 군 경험 이직 상담사를 중심으로 -

초록

본 연구의 목적은 중년 남성이 이직으로 상담사가 된 삶의 이야기를 통해 남성 중년상담사의 살아온 경험을 탐구하고 해석하며 그 의미를 이해하고자 한다. 중년 남성이 현존하는 수많은 직업 중에 상담사로 이직한 이유는 무엇이고 남성 중년상담사가 된 후의 삶의 변화와 인식을 살펴보며, 그 경험에 대한 의미를 따라가기 위해 본 연구는 내러티브 탐구 방식을 활용하였다. 평균수명이 백 세를 바라보는 현시점에서 중년기 남성이 새로운 직업으로의 도전은 필연적일 수 있지만, 한국사회의 문화적 맥락에서 여성 중심 분야로 인식된 상담사라는 직업의 선택은 쉽지 않기에 그 선택의 과정과 경험은 주목할 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 Clandinin & Connelly(2000)이 제안한 연구절차 방법에 따라 연구를 실행하였고 중년기 남성이 상담사에 이르기까지의 개인적이고 실제적인 경험과 상담사가 된 이후 삶의 의미를 이해하고자 하였다. 연구결과로 구성된 내러티브의 경험은 ‘이질감 : 입직과 전직의 반복’, ‘맹목적인 신뢰 : 블랙홀에 빠지다’, ‘천직: 바로 이 직업이다!’, ‘성장 : 두려움이 자신감으로!’, ‘인식의 전환 : 과거를 보는 시선이 바뀌다’로 나타났다. 본 연구를 바탕으로 중년 남성상담사의 개별 인간적 특성과 성장에 대한 논의와 후속 연구를 제시하였고 남성 중년상담사 직업에 대한 이해가 확장되기를 기대한다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore and interpret the experiences of male middle-aged counselors through the story of life in which middle-aged men became counselors by leaving their jobs and understand their meaning. The purpose of this study is to examine the reasons why middle-aged men have moved to counselors among many existing occupations, to examine the changes and perceptions of life after becoming male middle-aged counselors, and to follow the meaning of the experience, this study used the narrative inquiry method. At this point in time, when the average life span is 100 years, the challenge of middle-aged men to a new job may be inevitable, but the process and experience of the choice should be noted because it is not easy to choose a counselor recognized as a female-centered field in the cultural context of Korean society. This study was conducted according to the research procedure method proposed by Clandinin & Connelly(2000) and intended to understand the meaning of life after middle-aged men became counselors and personal and practical experiences. The narrative experiences of the study were ‘disparity: repetition of employment and transfer’, ‘blind trust: falling into a black hole’, ‘Thousand: This job!’, ‘growth: fear into confidence!’, ‘transformation of perception: change of view of the past’. Based on this study, discussions and follow-up studies on individual human characteristics and growth of middle-aged male counselors were presented and it is expected that the understanding of male middle-aged counselors’ jobs will be expanded.
