공간구성의 조형 요소를 응용한 도자 조명연구 -제임스 터렐 작품을 중심으로-

Abstract

The perception of space begins with the interrelationships of things that humans can be conscious of and again affects the human body senses. We recognize this as a comprehensive relationship without being perceived as an individual component and it consists of a framework of size, direction, and area. This paper proposed the need for a method of expression to approach the viewer with a new perspective, not the general expression of the existing works that make up this and utilize the light. In other words, this study considered basic practicality as well as the light that shows the structure of space and the ceramic lighting that sensibly expresses it, and aims to show the phenomenological expression that stimulates human sensibility through the relationship between space-viewer-light. The methods and contents of this study are as follows. First, to proceed with the work, we referred to books related to spatial composition and examined the background and theory of James Turrell's work suitable for the method of composition. Second, lighting, an important role in internal composition methods, was investigated. To find suitable lighting for the researchers to express, they looked at the type of lighting and its respective roles. In addition, various methods were considered to express visual curiosity in the pre-constructed spatial structure using the lighting method. Third, light production was carried out by selecting a paper white porcelain with floodplain to express the composition method that the researcher wanted to show with the lighting as a ceramic material. In conclusion, the exhibition of empirical works proved that the spatial structure and the composition of light can stimulate the visual phenomena of human beings to create a phenomenological experience, and confirmed that the noble experience in the relationship between the two can have an aesthetic effect on human psychology. Through these attempts, we could see the sensory experience in light, space, and human interaction and the sustainability of the expression of new ceramic materials.
