현대도예에서 발생하는 현상학적 공간 연구

본 연구의 목적은 현대도예에서 끊임없이 변화하는 공간 개념을 우리가 어떻게 지각하고 이해하고 설명하고 기술할 수 있는가에 대한 의문을 해결하기 위해 현상학적 공간의 발생에 대한 연구를 통해 현대도예의 새로운 공간 개념의 독자적인 조형적 원리를 설명하는 것이다. 이 과정에서 도예의 특수성에기반한 발전적인 이론 연구의 필요성을 제시하고 작품 해석의 방향을 제안하며 최종적으로는 도예의표현과 감상의 지반을 넓히는 것을 목표로 한다. 연구의 대상은 현대도예에서 발생하는 현상학적 공간이다. 연구의 방법으로는 현대도예의 새로운 공간 개념과 조형적 표현 방법들을 모리스 메를로퐁티(Maurice Merleau-Ponty)의 신체 현상학에 근거하여 설명하기 위해 도예의 장르적 특수성과 현상학적 공간 간의 상관성을 밝히고 질 들뢰즈(Gilles Deleuze)의 감각론과 촉지적 공간 개념을 더해 작품과 얽혀 있는 표현 주체인 도예가와 수용 주체인 관람자의 입장으로 나누어 작품의 표현과 감상 양측에서 발생하는 현상학적 공간을 구분하여 설명한다. 사례연구는 현대도예에서 발생하는 현상학적 공간을 신체성에 기반한 표현에 의한 발생과 촉지적 공간에서의 발생으로 방식을 나눠 작품에 적용하여세부적으로 분석을 진행해 현대도예 작품 속에서 보이는 현상학적 공간을 구체적으로 기술해 본다. 연구의 결과, 도예와 메를로퐁티의 현상학은 공통적으로 세계의 본질을 파악하고 표현함에 있어 신체적지각을 바탕으로 한다. 따라서 도예의 장르적 특수성과 현상학적 공간의 상관성에 기반을 둔 작품해석의 방향이 현대도예의 새로운 공간 개념을 심층적으로 이해하고 설명하는데 적합함을 확인했다. 이를통해 다른 매체의 해석을 빌려 희미해졌던 현대도예의 독자적인 지위를 회복하고 앞으로 실제 작품의제작에 있어 본 연구에서의 논의가 도예라는 장르의 개념을 넓혀주는 이론적 배경이 되기를 기대한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study on the occurrence of phenomenological space is to explains design principles of new space in contemporary ceramics in order to solve the question of how we can perceive, understand, explain, and describe the constantly changing concept of new space in contemporary ceramics. In this process, it aims to present the necessity of progressive theoretical research based on the specificity of ceramics, to suggest directions for interpretation of works, and finally to broaden the basis of expression and appreciation of ceramics. The subject of this study is the phenomenological space that occurs in contemporary ceramics. To explore the new spatial concept and formative expression methods of contemporary ceramics based on Maurice Merleau-Ponty's body phenomenology, we used to reveal the correlation between ceramics and the phenomenological space. By adding Gilles Deleuze's theory of sensation and haptic space concept, it is divided into the perspective of artists who are the subject of expression and viewers who are the subject of acceptance, and separately explains the phenomenological space occurring on both the expression and appreciation of the work. As a case study, the phenomenological space that occurs in contemporary ceramics are divided into two types: occurrence by expression based on physicality and occurrence in haptic space. The results of this study, ceramic art and Merleau-Ponty's phenomenology are based on physical perception in understanding and expressing the essence of the world in common. Therefore, it was confirmed that the direction of interpretation of works based on the correlation between the ceramic art and the phenomenological space is suitable for in-depth understanding and explanation of the new spatial concept of contemporary ceramics. Through this, it is expected that the independent status of ceramic art, which had been blurred by borrowing interpretations from other media, will be restored, and the discussion in this study will serve as a theoretical background to broaden the concept of ceramics in the future production of actual works.
