과정신학의 범재신론 지평에서 본 안병무의 민중 메시아론

이 글은 안병무에 의해 완성된 모습으로 나타난 <민중 메시아론>을 과정신학의 범재신론으로 재해석한다. 역사적으로 <민중 메시아론>은 그 진정한 의미가 왜곡된 채 많은 비판을 받아 왔다. 그것은 <민중 메시아론>이 민중을 메시아로 이해하는 급진적 인간론으로 전통적인 기독론과 속죄론을 대체하려한다는 것이었다. 하지만 이러한 비판은 근본적인 해석학적 자기 한계를 지니고 있었다. 즉, 전통적인 기독론이 전제하고 있었던 메시아와 피구원자 사이의 절대적 간격이라는 신학적 이원론은 하나님과 민중의 관계를 유기적으로 해명하려 하였던 <민중 메시아론>의 비이원론적인 사상을 오해할 수밖에 없도록 하였고, 그 형이상학적 토대인 실체론적 철학은 신학적 이원론을 심화시킴으로써 <민중 메시아론>에 대한 정당한 이해를 불가능하도록 만들었던 것이다. 어떻게 전통적 서구신학의 근본문제인 신학적 이원론을 극복하고, <민중 메시아론>에 함축된 의미를 밝혀 낼 것인가?이 글은 과정신학의 범재신론이라는 새로운 신학적 지평 위에 <민중 메시아론>을 위치시켜 그 포괄적 신학사상을 드러내려고 한다. 다시 말해, 범재신론이라는 역동적인 신학적 세계관을 제시함으로써 이원론적 신학 방법론을 극복하고, 과정사상이라는 유기체적 형이상학을 통해 신학적 이원론의 뿌리가 되었던 실체론적 철학의 문제를 걷어 내고자 하는 것이다. 과정 범재신론과의 신학적 대화는 <민중 메시아론>이 유사 기독론이 아니라, 하나님과 민중의 관계에 대한 관계론적 이해였음을 보여줄 것이다. 이 글은 <민중 메시아론>에 쏟아진 비판에 대한 변론에 그치지 않고, 나아가 <민중 메시아론>이 21세기의 신학적 논의에서도 중요한 의미를 지닌 대안사상임을 제안하고자 한다.
Abstract
This paper attempts to reaffirm the legacy of Korean minjung theology by reinterpreting its essential idea of minjung messiah in a philosophical dialogue with process thought. In a minimum sense, this study is a theological defense of the idea of minjung messiah, probably, the most important concept in minjung theology, through which fundamental insights of the theology are conveyed. Historically, the idea of minjung messiah has suffered from a misunderstanding that minjung theology conceived of minjung as the messiah and substituted the radical minjung anthropology for Christian doctrines of christology/soteriology. This erroneous conception has often occurred when the idea of minjung messiah was placed within the philosophically dualistic framework of traditional doctrines. In order to avoid such a mistake, this study consciously makes a turn to a broader discussion with process panentheism in which the idea of minjung messiah should be reinterpreted, not as a quasi-christology, but as a non-dualistic understanding of the relationship between God and minjung.
