마조리 수하키의 과정신학적 그리스도론에 대한 비판적 고찰

이 논문은 과정사상의 실재관에 근거한 마조리 수하키의 과정신학 적 그리스도론을 중심으로 오늘날 그리스도론 논의에 있어 과정신 학의 고유한 공헌과 한계를 비판적으로 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 한 다. 과정사상의 관계론적 형이상학은 헬라 철학의 실체론적 형이상 학의 언어로 기록된 고대 교회의 그리스도론적 교리를 신선하게 이 해할 수 있는 새로운 관점을 제공한다. 아울러 과정신학의 그리스도 론은 자유주의 신학 전통에서 흔히 간과되었던, 그리스도론의 우주 적 보편적 측면을 복원하는데 일조한다. 하지만 수하키의 그리스도 론에서 보듯이, 과정신학의 그리스도론은 과정철학이라는 기존에 확립된 형이상학에 지나치게 의존함으로써 예수 그리스도의 삶과 십자가와 부활을 통한 하나님의 계시에 고유하고 정당한 권위를 부 여하지 못하는 한계를 보여준다. 결국 예수 그리스도를 통한 계시는 하나님의 원초적 본성과 결과적 본성에 대한 과정사상의 논의에 사 랑이라는 색채만 덧입힐 뿐, 예수 그리스도 사건 안에서 약속되고 선 취된 종말론적 하나님 나라의 미래 비전은 시야에서 사라지고 만다. 성서적 그리스도론에 충실하게 위해서라면 우리는 비록 철학적 형 이상학으로 완전하게 확립된 것은 아니라고 하더라도 성서적 실재 관을 충실하게 따르는 것이 더욱 바람직할 것이다.
Abstract
This article aims to critically reflect both contributions and limitations of process theology in contemporary Christological discussions, with special focus on Majorie Suchocki’s process Christology. The relational metaphysics of process thoughts offers a fresh perspective to approach the ancient Christological creeds which was formulated in the language of the Hellenistic substantial metaphysics. Besides, process Christology contributed to recover the cosmic and universal dimension of Christology, which had more often than not been neglected in the tradition of liberal theology. Meanwhile, as Suchocki’s Christology clearly shows, process Christology relies too much upon an already established metaphysics to admit the authentic and proper authority to the divine revelation in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
