비평학자들은 여호수아 22-24장을 부록 내지는 편집으로 간주하는 까닭에 이 단락이 전체 책과 가지는 구조적 연관성을 잘 보여주지 못한다. 여호수아서의 구성을 비교적 자세하게 분석한 학자는 꼬르파르(H. J. Koorevaar)이다. 그의 분석은 국내 학자들에게 많이 알려져 있으며 대체로 그대로 수용되고 있는 형편이다. 그러나 꼬르파르의 분석에는 적지 않은 문제점이 있다. 꼬르파르는 여호수아서가 “신적/인간적 주도”에 의해 시작되고 “종결”로써 마무리되는 네 개의 단락으로 이루어져 있다고 주장한다. 그러나 이 연구는 1장과 22-24장이 내용과 주제에 있어 대응관계 있으며 여호수아서가 도입부(1장)과 종결부(22-24장)를 갖는 통일체이자 독립된 한 권의 책임을 밝힌다.
Abstract
Since critical Scholars tend to regard Joshua 22-24 as an appendix or deuteronomistic additions, they fail to show that this section forms a structural unity with the other parts of the book. The structure analysis revealing the literary unity of the book was made by H. J. Koorevaar. He suggests that the book of Joshua consists of four major units, each of which begins with the divine or human initiative and comes to close with a “closure.” However, present study explains that both Joshua 1 and 22-24 correspond to each other in terms of theme and contents. This leads to the conclusion that the book of Joshua is a fine self-contained literary work with a beginning (ch.1) and a closure (chs.22-24).
