Abstract

As the 2022 revised curriculum was introduced, the emphasis on responsible Korean literacy education increased. Following the 2015 revised curriculum, the instructional hours for Korean literacy education were expanded, and programs to identify students struggling with Korean literacy were distributed to strengthen Korean language education in schools. To effectively teach students with varying levels of literacy skills, integrating EduTech into lessons can be a beneficial approach. EduTech allows for online assessments of students' literacy levels and provides AI-powered courseware tailored to each student's needs. In this study, we conducted supplementary classes utilizing EduTech for four first-grade elementary school students identified as struggling with Korean literacy during after-school hours. The aim was to diagnose their literacy levels and verify the effectiveness of the intervention. The results showed that the students exhibited a high level of interest in EduTech-based classes, and three out of the four students demonstrated improved performance. While utilizing EduTech does not always guarantee academic achievement, it was found to enhance students' engagement and reduce the burden of learning.
