한국인과 일본인 사진신부에 관한 구술 자료 비교 분석

1908년부터 1924년까지 미국으로 이민 갔던 한국인 사진신부와 일본인 사진신부의 구술 자료는 매우 한정적이다. 이들은 여성이자 아시아계 이민자로서 역사적 중요성을 인정받지 못했기 때문이다. 하지만 그들은 이민자 사회를 세운 장본인이자 다음 세대를 이끈 인물들이었다. 이 논문은 미국과 한국에서 이용할 수 있는 사진신부 구술 자료의 서지사항을 알아볼 것이다. 또한 한국인 사진신부와 일본인 사진신부의 구술 자료를 비교함으로써 두 자료의 특징을 알아보고자 한다. 이 논문을 통해 사진신부의 구술 자료가 어떤 중요성과 의미를 가지는지 파악해 나갈 것이다.
Abstract
Oral records of Korean and Japanese picture brides who immigrated to the United States between 1908 and 1924 are very limited in number. Their historical importance has not been recognized because they were women and Asian immigrants. However, picture brides built the immigrant communities and led their next generations. Seeking to recognize the meaning and importance of the oral materials on these picture brides, this article collected and studied information on these oral records in Korea and the United States and compared the oral records of Korean and Japanese picture brides to determine their respective characteristics.
