Abstract

This article is intended to discuss the relationship between the sharing economy and the intellectual property system. Sharing economy began with an ideological reflection on the harmful effects of capitalism, such as wasting resources and inefficient economic phenomena, while being meaningful in the history of the economy. However, the sharing economy does not contradict the ownership system. On the other hand, the Intellectual Property System appears disconnected from the sharing economy by discussing property rights and its utilization of new forms of property as technology and science developing. However, the 4th Industrial Revolution, artificial intelligence, sharing economy, and intellectual property system are closely connected. As intellectual property has developed, it can be said that the local, ideological sharing economy has become global, more active and a kind of industry. Unlike other property rights, for example, the ownership to recognize exclusive rights to material stuff, the Intellectual Property System already has its own equivalent in terms of its nature to the ideologies of a sharing economy. The intellectual property system has already something in common with sharing economy, such as limitation of copyright, enforcement of patent rights, protection periods, public works, open source, clouding, and library systems, which mean sharing knowledge.
