Abstract
This study analyzes the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 2018 to 2024, calculating the Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) for mid-level categories. The analysis focuses on the top 15 categories with the highest CAGR, examining their inflationary factors and structural characteristics, and proposing relevant policy recommendations. The top categories include electricity, gas and other fuels, furniture, household equipment and carpets, other services, daily necessities and household services, and food products. The findings indicate that rising labor costs due to minimum wage increases are a common driver of inflation, highlighting the need for differentiated minimum wage policies that account for productivity differences across industries. Moreover, inflation was found to result from a combination of external factors—such as fluctuations in global raw material prices, exchange rate risks, and disruptions in global supply chains—and internal factors, including structural inefficiencies in domestic markets, inefficient distribution networks, and rising labor costs. As inflation directly affects people’s livelihoods, government policies for public welfare stabilization and comprehensive inflation management strategies considering both internal and external factors are essential.
