Abstract
With the introduction of the 'Provincial Special Intelligence Team' system as part of the National Police Agency's 2024 reorganization, this study analyzes the factors influencing the organizational commitment of the provincial special intelligence police and find ways to settle the newly introduced system from the perspective of organizational commitment. In January 2025, a survey was conducted on 111 intelligence police of the provincial special intelligence team under the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police’s Agency, using hierarchical regression analysis to examine the influence of personal factors (self-efficacy, career satisfaction, compliance with the evaluation system) and organizational factors (assigned jurisdiction, work autonomy, job satisfaction, collaboration and communication). The analysis showed that among individual factors, career satisfaction, and among organizational factors, job satisfaction, had a significant impact on organizational commitment. These results suggest that in order to enhance the organizational commitment of the provincial special intelligence police, it is necessary to raise positive career awareness and improve job satisfaction. Furthermore, based on analysis of open-ended survey responses and interviews, the study proposes follow-up measures for organizational reform, such as improving the performance evaluation system, adjusting duplicate entry and area in charge, and improving internal work methods and systems. This study is the first empirical study of the provincial special intelligence team, and provides theoretical and policy implications through analysis reflecting the specificity of the intelligence police organization.
