창업활동이 지역경제성장에 미치는 영향분석: 16개 광역시·도를 중심으로(2007〜2014)

초록

본 연구는 기업가정신 이론을 바탕으로 창업활동이 지역경제성장에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고자 2007년부터 2014년까지 16개 광역시·도의 패널자료를 이용하여 분석하였다. 기업가정신 이론에 따르면, 신생기업은 혁신 그 자체를 의미하기 때문에 이들 기업이 시장에 많이 진출할수록 지역경제에 긍정적인 역할을 끼칠 것으로 기대하였다. 분석결과, 일반적인 신생기업은 지역 내 총생산(GRDP)에 통계적으로 부정적인 영향을 끼치고 있는 반면, 전문과학기술서비스산업분야의 신생기업은 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 있음을 확인하였다. 분석결과를 바탕으로 하여 본 연구는 창업활동에 대한 인식제고와 정부지원정책의 시사점을 제시하였다.

Abstract

This paper examines the effects of new firms on regional economic growth by using regional panel data of sixteen metro regions from 2007 to 2014. In the line with entrepreneurship theory, it can be expected that new firms positively affect regional economic growth because they tend to be innovative. Surprisingly, the results of the present study show that general new firms significantly and negatively affect gross regional domestic product while new firms in the science and technology service industry have a positive effect. Based on the empirical evidence, this paper suggests several policy implications for government supports for new firms and the importance of education for entrepreneurs.
