68운동 전후 알제리 이주민과 프랑스 언론 - 르몽드지의 알제리 이주민 관련 보도(1962년-1976년)를 중심으로 -

프랑스에서 알제리 이주민은 오랫동안 ‘외국인’, ‘아랍인’, ‘무슬림’을 대표하는 집단으로서 반이주민정서의 주요 대상이었다. 언론 보도는 그들에 대한 인식의 틀을 제공함과 동시에 사회에서 통용되는 인식으로부터 영향을 받아 형성된다. 따라서 본 연구는 프랑스의 대표적인 중앙지인 『르몽드』에 보도된 알제리인 관련 기사들의 제목 및 내용, 보도 주제 등을 분석함으로써 알제리 이주민에 대한 프랑스 사회의 인식 형성 과정을 살펴보았다. 특히 68운동을 전후로 하여, 1962년 알제리 독립 이후부터 그들의 프랑스 이주가 제도적으로 중단된 1976년 4월까지의 기사에 집중하였다. 알제리 이주민에 대한 프랑스 사회의 인식은 전쟁으로 인한 반감, 기존 사회 구성원들과는 이질적인 인종적·문화적·종교적 요소 등에 영향을 받았다. 따라서 소수자에 대한 논의가 이루어졌던 68운동 이후 알제리 이주민의 사회 운동에 변화가 발생하는지, 그러한 알제리 이주민에 대한 프랑스 사회의 인식 변화가 나타나는지를 확인하는 것은 매우 의미 있는 연구이다. 이러한 맥락에서 본 연구는 향후 68운동과 알제리 이주민간의 관계를 보다 심도 있게 연구하는데 필요한 시기를 구분 짓는 1차 작업으로서 의의를 갖는다.
Abstract
In France, Algerian Immigrants is the large target of anti-immigrant attitude as an ‘Etranger’, ‘Arab’, and ‘Muslim’ for a long time. The media coverage provides a framework of the perception of them, but on the other hand, also influenced by the common perception in a society. This study examines the formation process of French society’s perception of the Algerian Immigrants by analyzing articles about them in 《Le monde》, which is one of the most influential newspapers in France. In particular, I focused on newspaper articles reported from the independence of Algeria in 1962 to April 1976, when their migration to France was illegalized, around with ‘68 Movement. The French Society’s perception of Algerian Immigrants was influenced by antipathy due to war, and a heterogeneous element compared with existing social members like ethnic, cultural and religious factors. It is a very meaningful study to confirm whether there is a change in the social movement of Algerian Immigrants, and in French society’s perception of them, after ‘68 Movement in which minorities were discussed. In this context, this study has significance as the first process to distinguish the time needed for further study of the relationship between the ’68 movement and the Algerian Immigrants.
