Abstract

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, university educational institutions started online classes in earnest. Therefore, this study also used online classes and online feedback from university liberal arts classes and examined some of their effects. Regarding the subject of J University [Human and Community], 12 units of online lectures, online interim reports and final reports, and online final tests were conducted by 145 college students for 15 weeks. In the course of conducting these online classes, the lecture was operated by providing 28 online informations for the interaction between the instructor and the learner. In order to facilitate interaction between instructors and learners in online these classes, it is not possible to make various gestures and verbal interactions using body language and through making eye-contact. Thus, immediate feedback regarding tasks and activities should be utilized. In online classes, online feedback suggests that it can be used to induce learners to actively participate in online classes. As a result of analysis using the personality scale, significant differences were found in the whole personality(morality, sociality, and emotionality), and significant differences were also found in all sub-areas of morality, sociality, and emotionality. Of course, since this study is the result of online classes for specific subjects at J University, there may be limitations in the generalization process. In order to prepare for cases in which offline education is difficult due to disasters and problems within the university itself, and to ensure that online classes are properly operated through the fusion of various technologies of the fourth society within education, the following suggestions were made: First, it is important to create content and improve the technical abilities of professional instructors for the preparation and progress of online classes. Second, although in university education, low-dimensional thinking such as knowledge and understanding, may be impacted through online classes, but there may be limitations in improving high-dimensional thinking methods such as application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation, as well as the implementation of competency-based education. Third, since university liberal arts lectures are operated by combining offline and online classes, it is necessary to establish a standard for acknowledging various forms of online education and their multiple forms. Lastly, the fact that university lectures are operated through online classes means that university professors must play both the role of teacher and the role of tutor.
