정해정 <석촌별곡>의 배경과 서정

Abstract

<Seokchonbyeolgok> is a Travel Gasa by Jeong Hae-Jeong, a figure of modern times. The author wrote it after gong sightseeing the whole area of Jeokbyeok and Mt. Mudeungsan located in his rural area, in July 1884. However, there have been almost no researches on this work so far since it was introduced to the academic world in 1980. Also the nature of the work has been wrongly informed as Eunil Gasa. Paying attention to such facts, this article examined the spatial/periodic background of the work, the author's motive of creating this work, and the contents expressed in the work and characteristics of its lyricism. The results of the discussion are like following. First, the location of Seokchon, the spatial background of this work was estimated as Sangchon Manwol-ri Nam-myeon Damyang-gun Jeollanam-do. Regarding the periodic condition of the time when the author created <Seokchonbyeolgok>, we determined that the clothes reform in June 1884 became the direct motive of creating <Seokchonbyeolgok>. It was also pointed out that the author as a descendent of Jeong Cheol aimed to carry on SongKang Gasa. The whole contents of the work were divided into four parts. The first and third parts contain his inspiration of Mt. Mudeungsan and Jeokbyeok while the second and fourth parts include sighs and criticism on the dark reality of the time. The overall atmosphere of the work is occupied by melancholy and sad mood. Such a unique lyric tendency as a Travel Gasa was understood as a result of reflecting the sensitivity of the time.
