Abstract
There are many literary museums in Korea, but there are few museums centering on classical narratives among classical literature. The classical narrative-focused literary museum can solve the ‘museum fatigue’ of modern literature-oriented museums, and since the branch of classical narratives is itself the content that captures various and numerous uses, its usage is better than that of existing literary museums. On the other hand, classical narrative is based on classical Korean novels, so a classical narrative-oriented museum will inevitably become a classical Korean novel museum. If a classical Korean novel museum is built, it needs to be a benchmark for successful museums at home and abroad. Since there is no example in the country, we have to find an example outside the country. <Genji Monogatari Museum> in Uji, Japan is a good reference because it is a successful museum with hundreds of thousands of visitors per year. The success factors of the <Genji Monogatari Museum> can be found not only from the internal attraction of a work as the Japan's first feature-length novel, but also from its accessibility to the world's cultural heritage Byodo-In, local specialties malcha, and public transportation. In addition, the activation of an educational program that befits the purpose of ‘a facility creating a culture for citizens and contributing to lifelong learning’ plays a major role. Our classical novel museum can provide high quality exhibitions based on various works while satisfying these conditions, and it can be used educationally. Daegu’s location is appropriate, and in particular, the location is far better because it can secure 480 kinds of <classical Koran novel transcription owned by Prof. Kim Kwang-soon>. Furthermore, as the Free Learning Semester(FLS) has expanded with the growing interest in humanities content, social conditions are also ripe, thereby increasing the likelihood of success. To this end, there is a pre-requisite that the understanding of classical Korean novels should be enhanced. There is nothing like translation and annotation for enhancing the understanding of novels. In this sense, the project <Translation and Annotation of Transcription of Classical Korean 100 Novels> is of great significance and should be continued.
