칼뱅에 따른 ‘하나님의 이름’(nomen Dei, Nom de Dieu) 연구 ― 『기독교강요』 최종판 ‘제1권 13장 20절’에 이르는 다섯 판본을 중심으로

초록

본 논문은 칼뱅에 따른 하나님의 이름(nomen Dei, Nom de Dieu)에 관해 다룬다. ‘하나님의 주권’이라고 할 때, ‘하나님’이 지칭하는 것이 무엇인지를 다룬다. 이를 위해 칼뱅이 직접 저술한 『기독교강요』 최종판 ‘제1권 13장 20절’에 이르는 다섯 판본을 살핀다. 다섯 판본은 1536년 라틴어본, 1539년 라틴어본, 1541년 프랑스어본, 1559년 라틴어본, 1560년프랑스어본이다. 특히, 마지막 판본에 나오는 문장 “ideoque quoties Dei nomen indefinite ponitur, non minus filium et spiritum, quam patrem designari”와 “Quia vero proprietates in personis ordinem se- cum ferunt, ut in patre sit principium et origo, quoties mentio fit pat- ris et filii simul, vel spiritus, nomen Dei peculiariter patri tribuitur”를기준 삼아 칼뱅에 따른 ‘하나님의 이름’의 두 가지 관점을 끌어낸다. 첫째 관점은 성부, 성자, 성령이라고 언급하지 않고 ‘하나님’을 말할 때는성부 ․ 성자 ․ 성령을 지칭하는 것이고, 둘째 관점은 성부 ․ 성자 ․ 성령, 또는 성부와 성령이라고 언급하면서 하나님을 말할 경우는 성부 하나님만을 지칭하는 것이다. 이런 기준 없이 하나님이란 용어를 사용하다 보면, 삼위일체적인 하나님을 소개하고 이해하는 데 혼란을 일으킨다. 칼뱅은 이런 기준을 『기독교강요』 최종판 ‘제1권 13장 20절’에 명확하게 제시하고 있다. 본 논문은 신학적 근거가 있는 이 두 관점을 하나님의 ‘이름-개념’ (ὄνομα­Begriff/Namensbegriff)이라고 부른다. 본 논문은 하나님의이름-개념으로 『기독교강요』 최종판 ‘제1권 13장 20절’을 번역 및 해석한다.

Abstract

This paper deals with the name of God(nomen Dei, Nom de Dieu) according to Calvin. When it comes to “God's sovereignty,” it deals with what “God” refers to. To this end, we will look at the five editions of Calvin's own Institutio Christianae Religionis, the final edition of Volume 1.13.20. The five editions are Latin in 1536, Latin in 1539, French in 1541, Latin in 1559, and French in 1560. In particular, based on two sentences in the last edition, two perspectives of ‘God's Name’ according to Calvin are drawn. Two sentences are “ideoque quoties Dei nomen indefinite ponitur, non minus filium et spiritum, quam patrem designari” and “Quia vero proprietates in personis ordinem secum ferunt, ut in patre sit principium et origo, quoties mentio fit patris et filii simul, vel spiritus, nomen Dei peculiariter patri tribuitur.” The first point of view refers to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit when saying ‘God’ without mentioning the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, the second point of view refers to only the Father God when saying to God, referring to the Father, the Son, Holy Spirit, or referring to the Father and Holy Spirit. Using the term God without this standard causes confusion in introducing and understanding the Trinity God. Calvin clearly presents these standards in the final edition of the Christian Compulsory, Volume 1.13.20. This paper calls these two views with theological basis ‘the name-concept’(ὄνομα­Begriff/Namensbegriff) of God. This paper translates and interprets ‘Volume 1.13.20’ of the final version Institutio Christianae Religionis in the name-concept of God.
