연극놀이는 참여자중심, 현장성, 과정중심이라는 특성을 지니며, 다시 연극적 놀이, 연속성 개념, 리더의 존재라는 내재적 특성을 갖는다. 여기서 가장 중심이 되는 연극적 놀이의 중심축은 상상과 변형이다. 상상과 변형은 은유적 사고와 상징, 가상/허구세계의 창조와 공존, 신체 감각경험이라는 특성을 불러오며, 이러한 특성은 놀이가 갖는 특성과도 일치한다. 상상에의 자발적 의지는 놀이와 연극놀이가 공유하는 고유한 본질로, 놀이정신을 바탕으로 생성된다. 이로써 생성되는 세계는 우연성이 가득한 즉흥의 세계이며 그 행위 자체만을 목적으로 하고, 무엇보다 자신을 넘어서는 현실로서 세계를 경험하여 궁극적으로 미적 경험을 가능하게 한다. 이 같은 놀이와 연극놀이의 일원적 특성의 이해를 통해 연극놀이의 개념을 환기한다.
Abstract
Drama is characterized by participant-centeredness, presence, and process-centeredness, and also have the inherently contains the traits of dramatic play, the concept of drama/theatre continuum, and the leader presence. Here imagination and transformation are the critical components of dramatic play. Imagination and transformation give rise to metaphorical thinking and symbolism, the creation and coexistence of virtual/fictional worlds, and bodily sensory experiences, which are consistent with the characteristics of play. The spontaneity of the imagination is an inherent quality shared by play and drama, and is generated by play-spirit. The world created through this is a world of improvisation where contingency is possible, and the purpose is only for the act itself. Above all, it ultimately enables an aesthetic experience by experiencing the world as a reality that surpasses oneself.
